Virtual reality (VR) is an innovative technology that gives students an immersive and dynamic tool for learning vocabulary. This study aims to investigate the influence of VR on EFL vocabulary acquisition of graduate students and their anxiety and attitudes towards VR. A quasi-experimental research design was used to determine its learning effect over traditional EFL vocabulary learning. Forty-seven students were randomly assigned into experimental (n=22) and control (n=25) groups. In the experimental group, participants learned vocabulary through a self-developed virtual reality created from the Cospace Edu application, while in the control group, participants used PowerPoint templates (PPT). The results showed that the experimental group's students did significantly better than the participants in the control group. The independent sample t-test disclosed a significant difference between the two groups regarding their post-intervention vocabulary knowledge and degree of foreign language anxiety. The descriptive statistics showed that the students in the experimental showed a positive attitude towards the implementation of VR. The qualitative analysis of the in-depth interview indicated that VR implementation in vocabulary learning could reduce their foreign language anxiety and could provide a better learning alternative to traditional vocabulary learning. This study is expected to provide valuable theoretical insights into EFL vocabulary learning within the foreign higher educational context and pedagogical implications for implementing virtual reality in vocabulary learning and its relation with foreign language anxiety and attitude.
