臺灣使用的畫布破損修護方法與材料大多承襲自歐洲傳統技法,目前仍無系統性地針對適合亞熱帶氣候的畫布修護方法與材料研究。有鑑於此,本研究希望整理與歸納相關資料,並且根據蒐集的資料、畫布修護施作條件各方考量因素,挑選適合臺灣環境的施作方法,以畫布樣本試片測試修護成效及施作難易度,提供修護師面臨畫布破損時,有較全面的修護決策脈絡。
首先著手蒐集國內外畫布修護的相關文獻,由傳統的加托方法及材料開始逐步演進到現代使用顯微設備輔助的精密黏合,並分析修護師對不同狀況文物所挑選修護材料的基本原則。第二部分實驗對市售常見的修護材料與適合台灣氣候的五種黏著劑與不同黏著面積進行拉伸測試。
實驗結果顯示,市售品牌的亞麻單紗都呈現適合的抗拉強度,且經緯紗線有強度及伸縮率上的明顯差異;棉單紗則呈現較低抗拉強度且較高伸長率;合成纖維單紗抗拉強度稍低於亞麻單紗,但伸長率明顯提高;不織布方面,雖然單位抗拉強度弱於其於種類紗線,但由於其適合大面積施作,相較單紗線可以在相同面積下提供不遜色於亞麻紗線的抗拉強度,但須注意其裁切方向,不同裁切方向的強度與伸長率有極大差異。
單紗-畫布黏著實驗顯示,Dispersion K498、Mowilith® DHS S1與BEVA® 371 Film於相同黏膠量下,產生最高且穩定的黏結強度; Plextol® D540與魚膠於結果顯示,雖然黏結強度良好,但穩定性較差,較容易產生失敗黏著點。


The methods used for canvas conservation in Taiwan mostly derived from traditional European techniques. Currently, there is a lack of systematic research on canvas restoration methods and materials specifically tailored for Taiwan. In light of this, the objective of this study is to gather and consolidate relevant information. Based on the collected data and considering various factors related to canvas conservation conditions, several different methods suitable for subtropical climate will be selected and test, thereby providing restorers with a more comprehensive decision-making framework when confronted with canvas damage.

The first part of this thesis involves gathering literature on canvas conservation from both domestic and foreign sources. The research will progress from traditional lining methods and materials to precision aided by microscopy devices. The second part of this thesis are testing materials for different conditions and analyze physical behavior of materials.

The first experimental results indicate that commercially available linen threads demonstrate suitable tensile strength, with notable variations in strength and elongation between the warp and weft threads. Cotton threads exhibit lower tensile strength and higher elongation rates. Synthetic fiber threads possess slightly lower tensile strength than linen threads but significantly higher elongation rates. In terms of non-woven fabrics, although their unit tensile strength is weaker than that of individual threads, they are well-suited for large-area applications and can provide comparable tensile strength to linen threads in the same area. However, attention must be paid to the cutting direction as the strength and elongation rates exhibit substantial differences depending on the cutting orientation.

The second experiments conducted between single threads and canvas reveal that Dispersion K498, Mowilith® DHS S1, and BEVA® 371 Film exhibit the highest and most stable bonding strength at the same adhesive quantity. Plextol® D540 and fish glue, on the other hand, demonstrate good average bonding strength but are less stable, indicating their potential inability to form reliable and consistent adhesive bonds.
