This study investigates the impact of the pandemic crisis and quarantine control policies on children, with a particular focus on changes in children's behavior and emotions as observed by parents. It examines the effects on children's behavior and emotions during strict quarantine measures, evaluates the outcomes of different parenting methods, and considers the variations that age differences may bring. Additionally, it explores the influence of parental variables on children's adaptation during quarantine, including resilience, emotional responses (such as anxiety and depression), parenting stress, inconsistency in discipline, and the adaptability of various parenting methods to the demands and characteristics of quarantine measures. The findings aim to provide recommendations for government agencies in formulating relevant measures and directions for improvement when responding to major pandemics.
This study employs literature review and quantitative questionnaire methods, conducting random sampling of families in Lienchiang County (Matsu) from March 2, 2024, to March 25, 2024. A total of 306 valid samples were obtained and analyzed using SPSS statistical software. The statistical analysis yielded the following conclusions:
(1)During the pandemic quarantine period, children's behavioral and emotional problems increased.
(2)Age and socialization affect children's behavioral problems and positive behaviors.
(3)Quarantine policies influence parents’ parenting styles for their children.
(4)Parental adjustment resources can influence children, triggering feelings of anxiety and self-blame.
(5)Parenting methods directly affect children's behavioral and emotional adjustment during quarantine.
