As one of the most important superpowers in the world, the United States possesses a broad and multifaceted geopolitical strategy. In this array of zero-sum games, the actions and policies of American geopolitics are driven by its national interests, security concerns, economic priorities, and values. It affects many levels of relationships, including economic competition, strategic interests, technological competition, ideological differences, military postures, diplomatic conflicts, and global leadership. Undoubtedly, the relationship between the US and China is one of the most significant bilateral relationships in today’s world. The aspect of technological competition has a profound impact on the development of China’s semiconductor industry. Especially after 2023, as tensions between China and the US escalated, technology restrictions, sanctions and blacklisting, supply chain disruptions, market access limitations, investment restrictions, talent acquisition and collaboration, intellectual property rights (IP) issues, among others, are some of the main challenges facing China’s semiconductor industry. This study, with the background of China’s semiconductor industry and focusing on Company R, examines through secondary data analysis and interviews with industry professionals, the impact of the spillover effects of geopolitics on the company’s profitability, supply chain layout, market expansion, and talent management. It further outlines the necessary adjustments and planning for developing future internal strategies and external business models in response.
