The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationships between occupation, social support and resilience of people with disabilities in different background variables, and the correlation among them. The research instruments of this study included Research Questionnaire on the Vocational Reconstruction Needs of People with Disabilities and the Brief Resilience Scale BRS. The interview subjects were people aged 15 to 65 years old in a county in central Taiwan who had a disability certificate issued by the government. The questionnaire method was used to collect data, and a valid sample of 794 people was obtained. The data was statistically analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis.
The main findings are as follows: The resilience of disabilities varies depending on their education, marital status, severity of the disability, current work status, and classified by ICF or16 categories, industry and live status. Life satisfaction varies depending on gender, age, education, classified by ICF or16 categories, severity of disability, live status, financial resources, and work status. Work ability, work motivation, willingness to work, and the inconvenience caused by disability of employment will vary depending on perceived social support conditions such as financial resources and live status. The regression analysis indicates that work experience, work ability and work willingness can predict work motivation. Work experience, work ability, work willingness, and free psychological consultation can predict resilience. Life satisfaction could be predicted by working ability, the employment assistance provided by free psychological consultation, the impact of disability on psychological disorders and resilience.
Work ability is a very important factor related to the resilience, life satisfaction and work motivation of people with disabilities. Central and local governments can consider how to increase physical and mental health when evaluating and formulating policies. The direction of employment, re-employment and stable employment of people with disabilities is to improve their work ability by providing them with the design of a welfare system for their daily lives or the planning of career reconstruction services required for employment, and the work motivation, resilience and Life satisfaction should gradually improve.
The results of the study can not only serve as a reference for professional counseling, assistance to people with disabilities, their families, and future related research and policy development, but follow-up research can also further explore the impact of various career reconstruction measures on the resilience and life satisfaction of people with disabilities. and work motivation, it is expected that more effective career reconstruction measures will be adopted in the future to help people with disabilities stabilize their employment.
