In this study, we explore the correlation between digital finance and women-owned businesses' access to formal finance in emerging and developing economies by exploiting the World Bank Enterprise Survey (WBES) data of 32,306 firms from 85 emerging countries and the International Monetary Fund’s Financial Access Survey (FAS) between 2009 and 2022. Our research confirms that digital finance can play a pivotal role in improving female entrepreneurs’ credit accessibility. However, it is imperative to maintain good governance to ensure adequate financial inclusion for women entrepreneurs. Effective collaboration between policymakers, financial institutions, and women entrepreneurs is essential to foster financial inclusion, gender equality, and robust governance, thereby unlocking the full potential of women entrepreneurs in the digital economy.
