低視力學生日常學習多半在近距離情況下,對教材的內容進行辨識。但是由於低視力的緣故,將所要辨識的內容放大即成了最常見的需求。因國內針對繁體中文的放大相關研究缺乏系統性的實驗驗證過程,針對此問題,國際上常見方法是以臨界文字尺寸作為放大的依據,但近年部分國內外研究顯示臨界文字尺寸應用在實際的現場,與學生表現出來的需求有落差。因此本研究旨在瞭解中等教育階段低視力學生,使用標準化測量條件時使用臨界文字尺寸時的視角,與日常不受限閱讀條件時所使用的視角間是否存在差異。本研究採取前實驗設計,以2022與2023學年度全臺就讀公私立中等教育階段國中一年級至高中三年級之間的低視力學生為研究範圍,有效樣本30人。使用之研究工具為「繁體中文標準化臨界文字尺寸測驗」,透過標準化測驗蒐集受試者的臨界文字尺寸視角(理論值),再以不受限閱讀距離的一般閱讀情境下,給予臨界文字尺寸,蒐集受試者實際需要的文字尺寸視角(觀察值),比較兩者間是否有差異。實驗結果表明在控制背景變項的條件下,常用的文字尺寸11pt至55 pt範圍內,兩者間存在顯著差異。根據受試者的實際文字尺寸需求建立迴歸線函數為y = 0.0001x2 + 0.0088x + 0.0283,y為觀察值x為臨界文字尺寸,發現標準化測驗結果須以函數進行修正,依統計結果得到結論為,經過標準化測驗得到之文字尺寸逕行放大1.5倍後,可快速獲得該名受試者最佳閱讀文字尺寸。未來研究希望持續蒐集低視力受試者數據,進一步完善迴歸線函數。
Low vision students often need to magnify reading materials for better recognition, but systematic research on magnification methods for traditional Chinese characters in Taiwan is not well-researched. Internationally, critical print size is used for magnification, but recent studies show a gap between that and the actual size students need in daily practical life. This research aims to find out the difference.
The pre-experimental design study included low vision students from grades 7 to 12 in Taiwan during the 2022 & 2023 academic year (n = 30). Using the "Standardized Critical Print Size Test for Traditional Chinese," the study collected theoretical visual angles under standardized conditions and compares them with actual visual angles in unrestricted reading conditions. Results indicated a significant difference between these values within the print size range of 11pt to 55pt.
A regression function (y = 0.0001x² + 0.0088x + 0.0283) based on actual needs suggests that standardized test results need correction. The study concludes that magnifying the standardized test's critical print size by 1.5 times can quickly determine each student's optimal reading size. Future research will continue collecting data to refine the regression function.
