The Transportation Research Institute of the Ministry of Transportation conducted an environmental corrosion rate survey of metal materials in the coastal areas of Taiwan. According to the ISO 12944-5 atmospheric corrosion classification table, the corrosion rate in the area where Mailiao Liuqing Petrochemical Plant is located is a severe corrosion area. In the atmospheric corrosion classification It belongs to the CX grade. Based on the area of 1M2, the mass loss is >1500~5500 and the thickness loss is >200~700. Mailiao Liuqing Petrochemical Plant is located in a coastal area. The atmosphere contains high salt content in the sea breeze and corrosion factors caused by industrial pollution. In order to protect pipelines, equipment and steel structures, anti-corrosion projects have been carried out, and paint coatings are the main ones. Barrier, so it is very important to establish a rust removal paint protection mechanism to ensure the integrity of the equipment. This paper is based on practical experience and the actual construction status of the petrochemical plant manufacturer. The content includes rust removal methods, ST classification explanation of rust removal standards, painting procedures and methods (primer/topcoat), construction process inspection points, and painting completion. Inspection method (wet film thickness/dry film thickness), acceptance criteria for completion of painting, precautions during application and construction key points, etc. In the future, we can provide references for manufacturers of rust removal and paint repair, which will be helpful to manufacturers entering the Mailiao Liuqing Petrochemical Plant to engage in rust removal and paint repair projects. After research after this practical experience, it was found that when the steel structure is completely unprotected by paint coating and exposed to a poor quality atmospheric environment, it corrodes very quickly, and the corrosion can easily cause damage and cause industrial safety accidents. When the paint is fully coated, a protective layer is formed on the steel structure, which can effectively block the influencing factors brought by the atmosphere and slow down the corrosion rate of the steel structure. Therefore, Mailiao Liuqing Petrochemical Plant attaches great importance to this project to ensure that the equipment in the plant can continue to operate in a safe environment and to effectively protect the company's property and employees' lives.
