本研究於2005年6月起至2006年9月針對在台中市中港交流道繁殖之鷺鷥鳥類,調查其覓食距離及其對周邊棲地之利用方式。於2006年估計三種鷺鷥繁殖族群量,結果顯示小白鷺數量最多,其次是黃頭鷺、夜鷺,總族群數約1500至2000隻鷺鷥。在2006年覓食距離調查中,本研究設置了14個樣區,發現三種鷺鷥族群,距離營巢處地點直線距離4公里之範圍內占了所有覓食族群之多數(86%);在4至7公里區域,雖有鷺鷥鳥類覓食,但其數量僅占所有覓食族群少數(約14%)。針對其棲地利用方面,本研究發現,小白鷺與夜鷺在水域覓食數量佔73%、89%(溪流、水道、水池)、黃頭鷺在草地及農田佔了80%。由於筏子溪流域近年來工程施工,讓原有的鷺鷥營巢處從筏子溪沿岸的樹林轉移至交流道區的棲息地,要維持本鷺鷥林繁殖地,除了要避免對鷺鷥林的干擾外,也要同時維持繁殖區四公里範圍內覓食棲地避免因開發或干擾而消失。
In this study I observed the Egrets and Herons which breed at the Chung-Gang Interchange in Taichung city from June 2005 to September 2006. I investigated the foraging distance and the utilization of habitat around the heronry of the Egrets and Herons. The estimation of the population size of the three Egrets was between 1,500 to 2,000 in 2006 and the majority was Little Egret, the Cattle Egret was second, and Black-crowned Night Heron was fewer in the mixed population. In the 14 census sites, I recorded the foraging distance, according to the distance from the heronry. The results showed the 86% of the foraging population dispersal in the radius of 4 Km from the breeding site. There were only fewer foraging population observed (14%) from 4 to 7 Km. Meanwhile, I found the most of 73% of population of the Little Egrets and 89% of Night Heron foraged in the open water, on the other hand the 80% population of the Cattle Egrets were observed in the grasslands and farms. Because of the developments and constructions around Fa-Tse Creek in resent years, the old heronies near the creek were disappeared and moved to the present site at the Chung-Gang Interchange. If we want to maintain the present heronry, the disturbances to the heronry should be decrease, and need to keep the feeding areas in the radius of 4 km from the heronry at the same time.
