論文內容提要 :
有關教育投資報酬率問題之研究與分析，以往多採Mincer (1974)之工資模型，且多以OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) 模型之方法進行實證分析。OLS模型受限於本身以平均值為基準的設定，在進行實證分析時不免受到單一估計值的限制。近年來國外文獻中已有採取另一種估計方法—分量迴歸模型 (Quantile Regression Model) 來對於教育投資報酬率的問題進行不同面向之研究。
本研究使用QR模型，針對台灣人力運用調查資料庫中，1982、1992與2002年三個年度的資料進行研究。檢視台灣受僱員工的教育投資報酬率在不同的工資分配分位中呈現何種不同的現象。
本研究實證結果發現，高等教育之投資報酬率在1982、1992年與2002年不論在工資分配的任何分位，均高於中等與初等教育投資報酬率許多，且女性高等教育投資報酬率均高於男性。工資分配最高分位之勞工，高等教育投資報酬率均高於其他分位者。可見接受高等教育對於高所得者是非常有利的，且相對於其他教育階層而言，對於工資的貢獻度亦是最大的，而大致趨勢在此二十年間均是如此。此外，隨著時間的演進，只接受初等教育對於勞動者而言已顯不足。2002年之實證結果顯示，初等教育對於工資的影響不論男女多不顯著。

Abstract:
Most analysis of returns to education uses the Mincerian-type wage equation and OLS estimator. Since the wage distribution may not be symmetric, the OLS estimator can only estimate the average effects without incorporating some important features of the wage structure in estimation. In order to study the returns of education on different levels of wages, this thesis uses quantile regression to examine the evolution of the returns to education in Taiwan.
My research suggest that the following results: (1)returns to education of individuals with tertiary education are higher than that of people with other education levels; (2) returns to education are higher for individuals with higher quantile in the wage distribution, especially for people of tertiary education level; (3)returns to education of female are higher than that of male for all levels of wages and education; (4) the effects of education input are different for various level of wages, where the tradition least square estimation gives only the average effect of education input on wages.
