本研究中,我們使用列表法指示性遺忘典範探討人在提取回憶時不同的情緒狀態以及不同的情緒材料對於指示性遺忘的影響。實驗中操弄參與者在提取回憶時的正向、負向或中性情緒狀態。研究結果顯示,無論人在正向、負向或中性的情緒狀態之下,人們依然具有主動遺忘訊息的能力,指示性遺忘的效果皆存在。而且無論訊息的內容有無情緒性(中性或是負向);以及是否與自身相關,皆不會影響指示性遺忘的效果。人們亦有能力去主動遺忘與自身相關的不好回憶。總括而言,這些發現指出,人類能夠主動地遺忘不想要的事件記憶或訊息,不管處在好或壞的情緒之下,而且即使事件或訊息是與自身高相關的負向情緒事件。回憶時不同的情緒狀態不會影響指示性遺忘,而且情緒內容亦不會影響指示性遺忘。
