本文試圖論述日常生活中的珍貴小事，親密關係。文中將現代西方親密關係的問題放到歷史文化現象的動態過程中考察。基本上，陌生(人)是全文的位置立場，而多重脈絡的問題化則是方法論的態度。在歷史文化現象的敘述下，本文策略性地鋪陳具有模糊和矛盾性質的多重問題。
以情感關係為歷史觀察的脈絡，本文依序探討了自我和自我、和他人，以及和自然三重領域的親密關係，然後分別定義為倫理的、社會的，和自然的親密關係。在每個領域的親密關係之內各有其獨立的問題化歷史，簡單用歷史論題名之，即情感尺度的軟化、互惠關係的形構，和機會理性的孕育。
另一方面，不同領域的親密關係之間又產生相互依賴的特殊議題。質言之，倫理的親密關係彰顯自我情感的過度，引致他人能夠滲透和建構自我認同。前述後果的歷史文化過程是靠著社會的親密關係不斷以類型化的性別愛情、親情，和友情來形構，進而成就富含有女性、年輕，和陌生人氣質的現代文化，其內涵顯示出被動、自我、思考等問題叢結。最終，親密關係牽涉到自然化、或貼切稱之機會化的文化思考，亦即思考如何拿捏出適切的溝通態度，以穩定時間性差異脈絡在溝通過程中所衍生的情緒混亂。準此，問題終於推向人和自然之間歷史關係的再思考。綜言之，本文論證，從歷史文化多重化裡建構出來的西方人，在面對當代差異與重複的時空所變換出多樣實驗形式的親密關係，可以總結為親密關係的機會化。

This thesis tries to talk about one precious little thing in everyday life: intimacy. In the thesis, the problem of western notion of intimacy, particularly the modern one, is explored as an ongoing process of historico-cultural phenomena. Basically, strangeness ( or say, stranger) is the grounding position of the whole work, and problematization of its multiple contexts is the methodological attitude. By way of narrative, the thesis strategically lays out a multiplicity of problems embedding in the historico-cultural phenomena with qualities of ambiguity and contradiction as the foci.
Observing relations charged with feelings as historical contexts, the thesis discusses three domains of intimacy regarding self to self, to other, and to nature in order, then defines them respectively as ethical, social, and natural intimacy. Within each domain of intimacy owns itself an independent history of problematic. While simply presented in terms of historical notions, softenization on the measure of feelings, configuration of reciprocal relations, and conception of chance-rationality are the three corresponding concepts .
On the other hand, between different domains of intimacy, they beget some specific issues in a way of mutual dependence. Speaking in details, ethical intimacy manifests an excess of self''s feeling, inducing others being capable of penetrating and constructing self-identity. The historical-cultural process in conjunction with the above consequences depends in advance on the configuration of social intimacy by means of typification of sexual love, filial love, and friendship. Furthermore, the configuration of social intimacy achieves a result of a modern culture with a spirit of femininity, youthfulness, and strangeness, the contents of which illuminate some problematics impling in the notions such as passivity, self, and thinking. Ultimately, intimacy relates to naturalization or aptly called chance-becoming of cultural thinking, that is, the issues related thinking about how to measure a proper communicative attitude in order to stabilize emotional chaos produced by temporally differential contexts in a communicative process are posed. Accordingly, the fundamental problem moves finally to re-think over the historical relations between man and nature. All in all, the thesis argues that while confronting with the contemporary different and repetitive time-space, the Westerners constructed out of historico-cultural multiplication change over diverse experimental forms of intimacy, which can be regarded as taking a position of chance-becoming in dealing with the phenomena of intimacy.
