Over the past few decades, mass production generated huge amounts of polluted water and has been discharged deliberately. Due to lack of equipment and improper management, underground storage tanks and pipe leakage resulted in soil and ground water pollutions, which have brought irrecoverable damage to the Mother Nature. Soil and ground water pollutions have become hot environment issues. Proper measures must be taken instantly. The conomy model for Changhua county is a mixture of industry and agriculture. There are nine developed industrial parks and nine reserved industrial parks, which are Changping, Chungshin, Fushin, Fangyuan, Beitou, Beidou, Daishin, Niuchouchi, and Tienchungyang industrial parks. There are 15,127 factories and the density of factory per square kilometer is 14, which are the major sources of soil and ground water pollutions.(Changhua EPA) According to “2008 GROUND WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION PLANS IN CHUNG HWA REGION”, Chung-hwa EPA plans to buildup a database for industrial environment and upper-layer groundwater. Regular ground water sampling can monitoring ground water quality and its long-term change, which will be important data to track possible pollution origins and important reference for pollution prevention regulations. The major purpose of this analysis is to measure the following items in groundwater - Temperature, pH, Total Organic Carbon, Hardness, Chloride, Total Dissolved Solids, Nitrate, Sulfate, Ammonia Nitrogen, Total Alkalinity, Iron, Manganese, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Zinc, Lead and Arsenic – based on data from 20 EPA monitoring stations in Changhua region from “NATIONWIDE GROUND WATER MONITORING URL”. Refer to four water quality measurement standards – Category 2 Underground Water Pollution Measurement Standard, Category 2 Underground Water Pollution Control Standard, Irrigation Water Quality Standard, Drinking Water Fountain Quality Standard - each item in groundwater will be measured under four water measurement standards to differentiate fountains between irrigation and drinking water resources. Data of major failure items between 1990 ~ 2008 will be made run charts by Excel. Trend estimations will be made with the run charts to observe the outline of water quality change. Irregular items will be analyzed and tracked for its possible pollution sources for Groundwater Pollution Prevention Regulations.
