Due to the tolerance for noise are decreasing, and the progress of architecture technique, void slab has used in residential buildings. However, the researches regarding the sound insulating performance of void slab are relatively fewer and the performance of void slab applied with floor covering constructions are even rare. This study aims at residential buildings with void slab in Taiwan, and executed experimental investigation on floor impact sound insulation with various floor coverings construction. ■ Research Contents 1. This research synthesizes literature and theory on the topic of floor impact sound, and establish experimental and evaluation method. Then, author executed experimental investigation on floor impact sound insulation, by doing so, this study results in finding out the discrepancy between floor with void slab and floor with RC structure. 2. The experimental method of this study was based on ISO and CNS. Floor covering materials are selected according to data collection. This study uses factor analysis to survey and measure void slab with floor covering construction, and finds out the relativity between floor covering construction and floor impact sound’s decreasing. 3. This study uses spectrum analysis to evaluate the sound insulation by void slab applied with floor covering construction. Then , generalize a conclusion based on material’s performance, and provide useful information for construction staff and follow-up study. ■ Research Results 1. The performance of void slab by impact ball, the value is about L-40 to L-45.The performance of void slab by tapping machine, the value is about L-70 to L-80. In conclusion, floor with void slab has better sound insulation then RC floor, and not decreases by its lightness and weightlessness. In terms of light floor impact sound, it is more related with surface covering material, the improvement is limited. 2. The result of analysis shows that utilize covering construction on void slab can ameliorate floor impact sound by tapping machine. The ameliorate level differ from various materials. In floor surface coverings, carpet can ameliorate the most. In floor covering construction, it will improve by lifting floor construction, or utilize high damping material as floor construction. 3. The spectrum tendency of field test is similar to full-scale building. In conclusion, it shows the practicability of small-scale testing material applied to both field test and full-scale building experiment.
