This research elucidates the historical texture of streets through discussion of their composition. The preservation of historical texture is different from the preservation of tangible cultural assets. Historical texture is intangible and can be sensed from a street’s spatial characteristics. The design scope comprises three types of street location to craft the spatial characteristics of historical streets. Through the historical texture remaining from developments during various period, the original urban texture and urban space have been preserved, historical buildings have been maintained and renovated, and street spaces and historical buildings have been integrated through urban planning and design. Exploring the unique features of urban texture can help people understand how historical spaces are formed by revealing the historical texture of streets, a concept different from the simply “old streets” with historical buildings. Improving the quality of the residents’ living environment and connecting the historical spaces in Fengshan District through the design of historical streets while retaining historical texture are the main goals for improving the pedestrian space for visitors to Fengshan District. The street corners, temples, and buildings along the street are used as spaces for pedestrians to occupy. Each block presents a different design; these variations can serve as a reference for the future design of Fengshan street.
