Abstract
In the late Qin Dynasty and early time of Republic of China, Wang, Yen-Ching, a teacher teaching the Ancient Qin in Nanjing Advanced Normal School from cities in ShangDong Province and the disciples, Hsu, Li-Sun, Shao, Ta-Su, rose a wave of playing innovative expressions in melody with unique manner, whom were honored as “Mei’an Qin School”. After the civil war arisen in 1949, a great number of people from Mei’an Qin School attempted to develop toward places from Mainland China; among of them, Wu, Tsung-Han and Shao, Yuan-Fu, who were the 3rd Generation of Ancient Qin, migrated to Taiwan thereafter that one was teaching in National Taiwan Academy of Arts as northern part of Taiwan while the other one was teaching in private organization in Kaohsiung as southern part of Taiwan; Wang, Hai-Yen, Lee Feng, and Su, Hsiu-Hsiang, the 4th Generation of Ancient Qin, also inherited the job they were born to do and have taught Ancient Qin in Taiwan up to now over the past decades of years since 1970 and 1980 respectively.
This Thesis mainly does research on development of “Mei’an Qin School” in Taiwan, which was originated from Mainland China. Investigation of Origins of Qin School and Qin Scores, depicted in Chapter I and II, is basis of ancient materials of this Thesis. Chapter III discusses the core part–Development in Taiwan, where manner of inheritance and ideas Mei’an Qin School had in Taiwan. Chapter IV records in details process of 4th Generation of Mei’an Qin School teaching and learning Qin Music through in-depth analysis of interview topics. Chapter V and VI deal with crisis Mei’an Qin School encountered during period of development in Taiwan and overview the findings for further suggestion and reflection.
Over the past decades of years, Mei’an Qin School had been rooted in Schools in Taiwan which impacts for development of Qin Music in Taiwan should not be underestimated. Except keeping records of inheritance of “Mei’an Qin School” in Taiwan for subsequent scholars’ full understanding and application, through its accomplishment, this Thesis may have more wishes on inspiring educational institutions of Government to face with weak condition of Chinese Art & Culture in Taiwan currently, further come up with an effective policy and solution for improvement.
