Qijia Yongchun Quan from Yongchun County, Fujian Province, China, belonging to Nan Quan and being spread to Taiwan by an unknown master from Tangshan, China, in 1907, can be categorized as the “martial arts before the war” of Taiwan martial arts, which is initially taught in Qijia Vil., Liujia Dist., Tainan city, it is known as the "Qijia Yongchun Quan". The Zheng Dao Martial Arts Academy, run by the descendants of Family Huang, is the core center for the development of Qijia Yongchun Quan in Taiwan. It can be divided into three stages: the Founding, restrained and development periods. The important masters are Huang Wen-Bi, Huang Lian-Chang, Huang Qiong-Xuan, and Lin Hui-Zhang. The main technique of Qijia Yongchun Quan is the hand movements. The main seven hand movements of Zhangqiao are Chongshou, Qieshou, Chuanshou, Zhanshou, Pishou, Bengshou, and Bianshou, and all of these hand movements are also called “Big Seven Hands.” Chongshou is the main attack hand movement. The main seven hand movements of Duanqiao are Koushou, Tanshou, Goushou, Fushou, Caoshou, Zhoushou, Liushou, and also of these hand movements are also called “Samll Seven Hands.”The sparring sets are “Four-Hand Practice”, “Five-Hand Practice”, “Chongshou Practice”, “Yongchun Wooden Dummy.” For the weapons forms or taolu, the basic weapon forms are “Simen”, “Maifu”, and “Sanzhan”; intermediate weapon forms are “Houxing”, “Fuhu”, and “Hengzhi”; advance weapon forms are “Tonggou, “Zhaiyao”, and “Shuzhuang”; weapon training forms are“Yongchun Xuanfeng Pole”, “Yongchun Broadsword” , “Yongchun Double Mace”, and “Yongchun Nunchaku”. The techniques and methods of Qijia Yongchun Quan are “Death touch by attacking the pressure points of the body” , “medicine and martial arts are the same important”, “Elephant-Pattern Quan ”, and “Pattern is imitated by art” .These above mentioned techniques and methods have the characteristics of martial arts which are passed down from the generation after the generation and local clolor. Qijia Yongchun Quan belongs to traditional martial arts, contains the national and regional cultural meanings, has both the mobility and the historical value of the inheritance. In the educational aspects, it has the functions of training and keeping healthy, self-cultivation and the art of living. However, it is facing the crisis of withering and declining due to the social atmosphere of seeking quick success and instant benefits, the separation of wushu and education, being not effective integration with business of martial arts, and so on.
