The object of this research is to investigate the related problem of the ul timate strength and the design strength of steel reinforced concrete (SRC) mem ber. Besides, the research is attend to development a computer program combine d with ETABS for SRC structural design. The design method based on the "Rela tive Rigidity Ratio" concept and the"Strength Superposition" concept is sugges ted to calculate the beam-column strength of the SRC member. Then, the design strength of the SRC member obtained by the proposed methods are compared with the results calculated by those formulae suggested by AIJ-SRC code (1987), AIS C-LRFD specification (1993) and. ACI-318 Building Code(1995). Besides, 123 tes t data from 21 papersare collected by this research to compare with the streng th predicted by theproposed method, AIJ-SRC code, AISC-LRFD specification and ACI-318 Code. Besides, a computer program developed by the proposed method i s attended to combine with ETABS software. Finally, a design example (22 stori es building)is provided to prove the usability of the program.
