Abstract
The purpose of this research is to explore the role of Commercial Times playing during the development of economics in Taiwan and behavioral characteristics of reading and choosing professional financial newspapers.
The methods of statistical analysis of this research include: Cronbach αAnalysis, Validity Analysis, Descriptive Statistics, Multiple Response, Cross Table Analysis, T-test Analysis, Principal Factor Analysis, and One-Way ANOVA Analysis. Analysis will be applied toward each changing elements in this research.
I. The major findings of this research include: 1. Responders’ motive of reading Commercial Times is the speed of financial information update. Responders also appreciate reports of Enterprise Developing Strategies, which are considered to be very helpful to their self-studies. 2. Even though responders read the Investment and Financial Page most frequently, they are more satisfied with the content of Enterprise Operation & Management Page. By requesting the increase of news of investment and finance, seminars, and sales promotion, responders show their great anticipation toward Commercial Times. 3. Responders who do not read Commercial Times indicate that there has also been financial news in all-round newspapers they read. For those who do not renew their subscriptions, their reason for not renewing is that they do not have enough time on reading newspapers. These opinions are alerts to the marketing strategy of Commercial Times. 4. There are more readers of Commercial Times among responders. However, regarding the satisfaction toward the professional financial reports, responders are more satisfied with the content of Economic Daily News. This is a sign that Commercial Times has to pay attention to. 5. Compared with Economic Daily News, Commercial Times has weaker relationship with traditional industries, which is the main reason why Commercial Times has been in an inferior status to Economic Daily News. II. Conclusions: In terms of readers’ opinions toward the content of Commercial Times: 1. Commercial Times shall increase soft-tone reports in order to fulfill the needs of female readers. 2. Most of current readers of Commercial Times read for the news of financial industry. Commercial Times shall pay more attention on other industries in order to attract more readers from different reader groups. In terms of readers’ satisfaction toward the content of Commercial Times: 1. Since many readers tend to read all-round newspapers due to their reading habit or the increase of financial reports in all-round newspapers, Commercial Times shall reinforce the after-sales services and create extra values in order to increase readers’ satisfaction. 2. Commercial Times shall open the market of young readers. The page of weekly-released《THE ASIAN WALL STREET JOURNAL》will be a new strength of Commercial Times, which shall be able to attract young readers and increase their satisfaction.
