摘 要

人類透過按摩進行療癒，已有長久的歷史發展，在許多古文明的國度中，均有文獻記載人類如何運用按摩作為療癒工具（林妙香 2006）。但按摩不只存在於成人的世界。2004年春，我與西方嬰幼兒按摩有了初步的認識，才知嬰幼兒也是需要被按摩的，並有其理論基礎及療癒訴求。而在中國，有許多文獻資料顯示小兒推拿存在已久，且也普遍應用在日常生活中。本文的研究範圍以西方的嬰幼兒按摩及中國小兒推拿為探討的主題，希望透過相關理論與實踐的探索，為按摩、推拿提供更廣闊的視野。在研究方法上，兼及文獻查索及田野調查。本文的田野調查以筆者親身參予台灣國際嬰幼兒按摩協會（International Association of Infant Massage，Taiwan）所舉辨的「2005 國際嬰幼兒按摩合格講師培訓營」為主體。
因對「身體」的「觀看」方式的不同，及身體對外界的「感知」方式的不同，因此，東、西方發展出不同的醫療體系，而這也表現在嬰幼兒按摩上。西方的嬰幼兒按摩是建立在「觸覺」這一感覺系統的感知上，主要是希望嬰幼兒可以早期得到「正面」的撫觸經驗，並藉由按摩的過程，使嬰幼兒與家庭的其它成員有更多互動的機會，進而建立「親密感」（bonding）及「依附感」（attachment），並對「身體」及「家庭」的概念得以建立。中國的小兒推拿則是依中醫學的陰陽、五行及經絡臟腑的理論，經過辨証論治，對小兒的特定部位或穴位給予推拿，除了治療小兒的病症之外，也在協助小兒與自然界達到平衡的狀態。經由相關理論與實踐的探索，得知嬰幼兒按摩不只有生理意義，也有社會意義，藉由嬰幼兒按摩可激發父母親對孩子的愛，改善夫妻、親子的互動關係，是相當值得推廣的。
