Knowledge is playing an important role in intellectual economy and it’s also one of the main competitive factors. How to make knowledge become meaningful and widespread through personal networks has become an important management topic in this century. On the basis of this trend, this study follows social network theory to investigate the relationships among personal network structure, knowledge sharing motivation, and knowledge sharing behavior. To discuss this issue, this study adopts a sample of 1,500 workers from various industries and organizations by controlling their gender, education and occupation.
The empirical results showed that:(1)The higher age heterogeneity among network actors was, the higher the inclination of knowledge sharing behavior was;(2) The higher intimacy among network actors was, the higher the inclination of knowledge sharing behavior was;(3)The higher education heterogeneity among network actors was, the lower tendency of knowledge sharing behavior was;(4)The higher inclination of altruism was, the higher inclination of knowledge sharing behavior was;(5)Besides, knowledge sharing motivation will mediate the relationships between personal network structure and knowledge sharing behavior.
