SUMMARYThe longitudinal and curve-fitting study of the growth in height and weight in Taiwan schoolboys and schoolgirls aged 7 to 23 years from 1966to 1992. The secular trend of height and weight showed a positive trend. There have been an increase in height per decade of 1.33cm - 4.06cm among boys and 0.85cm-3.70 cm among girls, with corresponding increases in weight of 1.93kg - 4.74kg and 1.31kg - 3.80kg, and the time that the growth spurt took off have been increased by years.In the curve-fitting study, the growth spurt in height among boys 7.07cm at age 14 - 15 in 1966, 7.11cm at age 12 - 13 in 1922, and girls 7.23cm at age. 12 - 13 in 1966, 6.60cm at age 11 - 12 in 1992. The growth spurt in weight among boys 5.38kg at age 14 - 15 in 1966, 5.29kg at age. 12 - 13 in 1992, and girls 4.93kg at age. 12 - 13 in 1966, 4.67kg at age 10 - 11 in 1992.In the longitudinal study, the result showed the growth spurt in height among were earlier than the fitted curves about 1 years, and there were no difference in girls, with corresponding in weight among boys were earlier then the fitted curves about 1 year, and girls were later than the fitted curves.The secular trend in height in Taiwan 1966-1992 is medium among the world, and is shorter than Japan. The growth spurt in height and weight in the longitudinal and curve-fitting study among the world, boys took off early, and girls is medium.
