Beta-sitosterol(榖固醇)為一個已被證實具有療效的成份,可控制膽固醇、抗癌、促進攝護腺健康、增強免疫力等等..。植物油中,以種子油的含量為最多。本實驗所採用的樣品有小麥胚芽油、棉子油..等;在中藥材中此成分的存在與否是一個未知的問題。因此本實驗藉由高效能液相層析(HPLC)建立分析此成份的一個技術平台。
本實驗所選擇的是臨床上較常用來利尿的茜草科植物紅芽大橶(Knoxia valerianoides Thorel et Pitard)即簡稱紅大橶。經由不斷的改變分析條件,找出了紅大橶最有利的分析參數;將此方法運用在紅大橶的分析上,便能夠快速的得到Beta-sitosterol(榖固醇)的成分。另外,也將此分析條件運用在市面上易和紅大橶搞混的京大橶上,發現並無含Beta-sitosterol(榖固醇)此成分;因此,此方法可快速的鑑別出兩者的差異。因為兩者在外觀上並無太大明顯差異,但在臨床的療效上確有明顯的不同。
本實驗的目的,即在藉由高效能液相層析(HPLC)尋找分析Beta-sitosterol(榖固醇)此成分最有利的條件;除了可運用在大橶種類的辨別外,也可將此條件運用在鑑別其他中藥材是否含有此成分。
