This work discusses “Spiritual Paintings – The Energy of Light.” Its purpose is the discussion and reorganization of the author’s personal study, practice, and research on the subject of spiritual growth since entering the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Taipei National University of Art in 2002. Visual images are used to represent the subject of this work. The theory of spirituality, as relates to the subject of this composition, is based upon principles of mental and spiritual discipline presented in the Christian Holy Bible. Light is a metaphor for spirituality. Spiritual regeneration and perfect spiritual character are the ideal substance and foundation of an individual’s life.
This discussion is divided into four chapters. The first chapter primarily sets forth the author’s feelings regarding a high proportion of negative thinkers in his daily environment. Gracious thought is the preferred discipline, and practicing spirituality and using knowledge are the motive, goal and content of creative expression. The second chapter states the artful cause and effect relationship connecting the individual with spirit and light. It also continues the discussion of spiritual connotation, the path to individual spiritual revival, and spiritual beauty. The third chapter further explains activity corresponding to the touch of inspiration in the individual creation process, and the influence of the activity on the individual’s body, mind, spirit, work and manifestation of the work. The fourth chapter looks at similarities and differences between historic works related to spirit and light and the author’s works as support of the main topic of this discussion. The text concludes with an expectation that the author’s personal creations can provide a breath of positivity and grace for our society and that the exertion of the author’s limited strength can purify human hearts.
