Make-up design is indispensable for make-up artists to express the human features. Make-up artists used to use live models for designing make-up. It was limited by time and locations during the artwork's creation. Through the use of Photoshop computer image editing software, the make-up design platform is digitized, removing the limitations of time and locations in artwork creation. Digital image processing can replace creative work involving live people on site. The effects of make-up design can be simulated on a computer screen. Using software, one can predict what the facial features will look like. This research is mainly concerned with the application of image synthesis on make-up designs. It includes a literature survey and an analysis of tool operations. It uses image editing software tool Photoshop for image syntheses and for creating the effects of realistic make-up design, e.g., the modifications of eyebrows, eyes, cheeks, lips, skins, and facial shapes. By using and observing the operations of the tools, the effects on the images are analyzed. The analysis of the effects of creative works shows that image synthesis and processing is beneficial for make-up design. It not only removes the limitation of locations and reduces processing time, but can also predict the results and modify the make-up designs, achieving the purposes of creative art works. By using different image-editing tools, multiple functions can be executed to digitize make-up designs, achieving the goals of creative designers. This article also proposes future research directions and developments.
