According to the visitor statistic from Tourism Bureau, large proportion of the tourists visited Taiwan came from Japan. For the employment demand, students who took the Japanese related subjects as their elective course are increasing year by year. However, can those who graduated with a major in Japanese find the job tourism industry without any difficulty after graduation? Given that the research about the topic as mentioned previously is few, the purpose of this research is getting to the meat of graduates improvement of occupational ability in tourism industry. By analyzing the survey results and the data of the interview, to discuss that how graduates who major in Japanese learned occupational ability in workplace, and how they improve the Japanese-language proficiency. Furthermore, examine if the course in school useful for practicing in tourism workplace.
The respondents of questionnaires are the students graduated from the Department of Japanese of T University then working in tourism industry now. Through interviewing 3 graduates who has worked over 1 year in tourism and using the on-line questionnaires, An investigation shows below:
1)Working Ability is built up from studying of language and learning of working skills personally, moreover, team orientation and positive attitude are also to be trained from the works. 2)Professional Ability is improved among the employment training, working experience and initiative study. 3)The study course, such as translation, culture and political / current events, may value their work skills but it seems hardly to connect the area between academic and work in Tourism Industry.
To sum up of the result of the research, the improvement of working ability is not only the working experience accumulating and the professional ability personally increasing, but also the good attitude is the key factory in working place.
The researchers expect this research could provide a reference for curriculum arrangement, and have a contribution with human resource development of Tourism Industry in the future.
