The rapid growth of single parent families in Taiwan has
been widely noted. The main purpose of this research is want
to find out the situation of the adolescent''s self-concept,
school achievement, behavior problem in a single-parent family.
The results show what ever facts cause the single parent fami-
ly come out, it does not affect their child''s adaptation. The
adolescent''s self-concept, school achievement, behavior problem
existed before incidence of single parent families. The pressu-
re of economic and society adaptation problem can be overcome
by parents for their reposition themself and maintain good rel-
aionship between parent and children. Parent should make family
function work well for helping their children in families.
