It was written in the Huang-Di-Nei-Jing-Jing-Mo-Pien, in detail the pathway of Qi-Blood circulating in a human body which is the basis of diagnosis and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. However, there is still no scientific support. By the results of former research done in studying the electric property of pericardium meridian he got that the meridian is a good conductivity path for electric current and is also a high way for electromagnetic wave to propagate. The good conductivity can be expressed by the value of peak current and the speed of electromagnetic wave can be described by polarization of the meridian.
In order to further study the other meridians, we chose the acupoints of Wai-Kuan (T5) and Tien-Ching (T1O) of triple warmer meridian of 40 subjects as the acupoint group and the points 1 cm toward the radial sides of both Wai-Kuan (T5) and Tien-Ching(TIO) as the control group Measurements were done to study the difference between concentric and ecentric conduction and polarization.
Furthermore, another 40 subject''s bilateral symmetrical acupoints (Wai-Kuan, Ta-Ling, San-Yin-Chiao) of limbs and asymmetrical acupoints (Left-Tien-Ching-Right-Wai-Kuan, Left-Ta-Ling-Right-Kung-Tsui, Left- Kung-Tsui-Right-Ta-Ling, Left-San-Yin-Chiao-Right-chu-pm, Left-Chu- Pin-Right-San-Yin-Chiao) of limbs were chosen and measured. The data were analyzed by paired-t test and ANOVA test which give the following results:
(1) The direction between the conductivity disregarding concentric or eccentric, is significantly larger than the nonacupoints (P<0.001) indicating that the current message conveyed in human through meridians is at less expenditure .
(2) The conducting current between the acupoints is directional (P<0.005) with the concentric providing easier access to the current. This is quite compatible with the traditional theory of the flow of Jing-Qi .
(3) The conducting current in the control group also possesses variation in direction of flow (P<0.005), identical as the acupoints group .
(4) The polarization of the control group (P<0.001) is directional, which is higher in the concentric pathway .
(5) The polarization between the acupoints does not possess obvious direction.
(6) There is no significant difference in polarization between the acupoints group and the control group .
(7) The current flow between the bilateral limbs starts from the right to the left. It is much higher than that from the left to the right and reveals significant difference.
(8) The current measured from the meridians of the limbs, symmetrical and bilateral is higher than the asymmetriqal group regardless of the flow of direction, with an exception of a group which shows no significant difference, all groups in our experiment has a statistically significant variation as the outcome (P<0.001) (P<0.05).
These conclusions reveal that a morphological symmetric human body is asymmetrical in its conductivity, the bilateral and symmetrical acupoints possess better association than the asymmetricals. Therefore, by choosing acupoints with better conductivity they will have better communication. This is what we got from our study about the electrical property of the meridians.
