The aim of this study was to develop the social physique anxiety scale for children (SPAC) based on the social physique anxiety scale developed by Hart and her colleagues and to find the predictors of SPA. One hundred and eighty-seven participants were included in the pretest of SPAC and the perceived social support scale for children (PSSC) to perform exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and reliability analysis. Three factors, sportswear concern, physique evaluation concern and physique presentation discomfort, were extracted from SPAC and the Cronbach's  was .83 (14 items); three factors, family support, teacher support and peer support, were also extracted from SPAC and the Cronbach's  was .87 (20 items). Two hundred and eighty-eight elementary school fifth graders completed the SPAC, PSSC and the physical activity questionnaire for older children during PE class. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlations and multiple stepwise regression. The findings are as follows: (1) The SPAC is an adequate tool which can measure children’s SPA. (2)Results of the stepwise regression indicated that sex, BMI, perceived social support and physical activity were predictors of SPA among elementary school students.
