隨著環保意識的抬頭，國人紛紛以自行車取代燃油交通工具，不過並非全路段皆有專用的自行車道，自行車騎士在一般道路上行駛，礙於自行車性質，無法即時得知來車危險資訊，且為了輕量化車體無法安裝過多警示設備以及具有相當強度的安全保護裝備，也因此造成許多無法避免的意外，為了在最低限度增加騎乘者負擔的情況下提升其騎乘安全性，許多自行車騎士開始在自行車上加裝後視鏡(Rearview mirror)，不過由於自行車在設計本質上有許多種不同的形態(form)，使得自行車安全警示裝置無法達到最佳的效益。近年來行動裝置的普遍化以及功能上的擴充，讓自行車騎士在旅行或是城市騎乘中也必須攜帶，本實驗希望利用行動裝置的必要性，並且配合藍芽攝影機將後方影像即時呈現到前方，讓自行車可以在騎乘中也可以達到最佳安全性，同時也可以有效率的使用行動裝置。
本研究包含針對自行車騎乘者的問卷以及實驗，問卷會先確定使用者平常騎車習慣，以及行動裝置的使用方法，而實驗首先會在不同位置安裝行動裝置，並擷取自行車騎士在觀看各安裝位置時的騎乘動作改變。經由本研究可以知道手機為自行車騎乘者具備的裝備，在裝置的使用上不論是坐墊低於手把的淑女車或是一般公路及登山車，當手機或配件安裝位置為斜前方手把末端的位置時，可以讓頭部在最小的位移內閱讀完裝置的資訊，在日後配件設計得以參考其結果來提升自行車配件使用上的安全與效率。

As more people start caring about the environment, many countries encourage cyclist commuting to replace motor vehicles. However, separated bicycle lanes are not always available and cyclists usually have to share lanes with other motor vehicles, which put cyclists at a higher risk. Even worse, the structure of a bicycle can hardly protect a cyclist. A few cyclists install rear-view mirror on their bikes for road safety while most cyclists simply don’t use it, mainly due to extra weight and appearance concerns. Many cyclists on the other hand, install mobile devices on their bikes to provide important information such as navigation and mileage. This study investigated current trend of mobile devices usage on a bike and provided a solution to combine the function of rear-view mirror and mobile devices.

A questionnaire was conducted to analyze the behaviors of regular cyclists including their riding patterns and habits. Based on the results of this questionnaire, a prototype of electronic rear-mirror was developed. A series of experiment was then conducted to determine the installation location for this prototype on two forms of bicycles, and the view angles of the rear-mirror for different types of road. The experimental results suggest that when installed on the end of handle bar, cyclists can obtain the information provided on a mobile device with least head movement distance. As for the view angle, people prefer wide angle on a narrow road and a narrower view angle on a wider road. These results can be applied to mobile devices design for using on a bicycle to enhance riding safety.
