本研究主要探討自由貿易協定對台灣的影響。台灣最大的貿易競爭對手國韓國，不斷與台灣主要貿易夥伴簽署自由貿易協定，在區域內降低或完全免除關稅情況之下增加彼此之間的貿易量，使得台灣在經貿方面恐將遭受到邊緣化。以新加坡作為研究對象，利用1981~2014年的總體經濟資料，並建立一個引力模型，說明韓國與東協形成自由貿易區對台灣的影響。實證結果發現韓國與東協形成自由貿易區時，雖然台灣貿易被邊緣化不明顯，但是新加坡很明顯增加從韓國的進口，對台灣有明顯貿易轉向效果。台灣名目GDP、雙邊實質匯率會顯著正向影響新加坡從台灣的進口值。韓國與東協(新加坡)形成自由貿易區，新加坡會增加從韓國的進口值，減少從台灣進口。台星自由貿易協定，沒有顯著影響新加坡從台灣的進口值。推論原因為台星形成自由貿易區時間不長，貿易創造效果未顯著。

Taiwan’s major trading partners have consecutively signed Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs) due to the recession of WTO in the last decade. Taiwan, however, is not a member of those RTAs. In recent years, there has been a dramatic proliferation of research concerned with the effects of those RTAs on Taiwan’s economy. Previous studies merely focus on the evaluation of the average trade effects of RTAs, which is not an appropriate approach to correctly assess the trade effects on Taiwan. This study attempts to build a parsimonious gravity model, focusing on the trade between Taiwan and its trading partners. For this purpose, we use a set of macro data gathered from Taiwan, Korea and Singapore from 1981 to 2014 to empirically investigate the trade creation and diversion effects on Taiwan of the AFTA-Korea Free Trade Agreement. The main result is that Taiwan’s nominal GDP, real exchange rate and KAFTA dummy variable have a significant effect on the value of Singapore’s import from Taiwan. However, TSFTA dummy variable is insignificant because the Taiwan-Singapore FTA comes into force in late 2014, which in turn fail to get enough data to capture the trade effects after the formation of FTA.
