摘要
El Camino Real 源自於西班牙語，中譯為「王者之道」或「國王大道」，美國人暱稱帝王公路（King’s Highway），是早期為了傳教而縱貫整個加州的傳教步道（California Mission Trail），存在已逾三百年的歷史，全長達600哩，於2004年被美國官方指定為國家歷史遺跡。
呂德（Alfred Reed），美國著名作曲家與音樂教育家。1921年1月25日出生於紐約，2005年9月17日於佛羅里達州自宅逝世，享年84歲。創作範圍涵蓋了管樂、管弦樂、合唱以及室內樂等，作品數量超過250首。
空軍，一向是美國武力與權威的象徵，呂德受美國第581空軍樂隊的指揮官托勒（Ray E.Toler）上校委託譜寫管樂作品。便以《王者之道》為名作曲，並以這條古道的歷史與人文背景，運用拉丁音樂的原素作為樂曲的主要素材。自1984年起開始創作，1985年春季完成。並於1985年4月15日在佛羅里達州薩拉索塔 (Sarasota) 由托勒指揮美國第581空軍樂隊首次演出。
整首樂曲共305小節，分為快－慢－快三大段，並將佛拉門哥（Flamenco）、荷他（Jota）和方當戈（Fandango）三種舞曲融入寫作當中。也由於整首曲洋溢的濃厚的拉丁音樂風格，因此樂曲的副標題及訂名為：《一首拉丁幻想曲》（A Latin Fantasy）。

Abstract
El Camino Real, The King's Highway, is a history road that has been existing for more than three hundred years. It is 600 miles in length and was designated as a National Historic Site by the United States official in 2004.
Reed (Alfred Reed), the famous American composer and music educator, born on 25 January 1921 in New York and died at the age of 84 years on September 17, 2005, at the home of Florida's. His compositions, which are over 250 pieces, have covered the fields of wind ensemble, orchestra, chorus, and chamber music.
Air Force has always been a symbol of the force and authority of the United States. Reed was entrusted by Colonel Ray E.Toler, commander of the 581 U.S. Air Force Bands, to compose works for wind ensembles. Reed named the music by El Camino Real. With the historical and cultural background of the trail, he used the elements of Latin music as the main material. He had begun his writing since 1984, and completed in the spring of 1985. On April 15, 1985 in Sarasota, Florida, Sarasota, Toler commanded 581 U.S. Air Force Band for the first debut.
The composition has 305 measures and is separated into fast - slow - fast three sections. The three kinds of dance music, Flamenco, Jota and Fandango were also written into. Due to the strong Latin music styles, the subtitle of the song was named: A Latin Fantasy.
