In this study, twenty-two full-scale reinforced concrete beam loading tests are carried out. Steel couplers, including cold forged and threaded coupler, lengthened cold forged and threaded coupler, cold swaged coupler, and threaded coupler, as well as rebars without splicing are used to explore the effects of couplers on crack width, flexural strength, stiffness and ductility of beams. Test results show that: (1) there is little influence on flexural strength with rebar apliced by coupler, (2) beams without spliced rebar have better ductility, (3) beams with longer couplers have less energy dissipation capacity, (4) there is little influcence on maximum crack width under service load if the slipage of cuplers is less then 0.1 mm.
