MICE industry (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) has become one of the most emerging industries in the 21st century, and has grown into a major force in tourism and hospitality. MICE industry in Asia has developed rapidly as the Asia-Pacific area gradually become the emerging destination for international exhibitions, meetings and incentive tourism. The issue of sustainability of MICE industry is at the epicenter of international concerns, however, researches and practices have tended to focus on a limited range of topics relating primarily to green meeting, green venue, green hotel and environment protection. Therefore, it is increasingly important, for Asian countries, to create an industry-wide set of green standards which can consolidate concepts of sustainability, environmental protection and social responsibility for the MICE industry. The objective of this research was to develop acceptable evaluation indicators of Green MICE for Asian countries. Four aspects (Organizers, Venues, Accommodations & Transportations, and Food & Beverage Management), 14 criteria and 52 standards of Green MICE were established via literature reviews, expert interviews, modified Delphi and fuzzy AHP questionnaires. The weights of four aspects are Organizers (0.540), Venues (0.281), Accommodations & Transportations (0.108), and Food & Beverage Management (0.071) respectively, in which Organizers and Venues are considered the two most important factors in practicing Green MICE. The findings and suggestions of this research provide a veritable roadmap for planners and related organizations in developing sustainable practices for Green MICE.
