本文研究目的為探討上游廠商採取水平整合或是垂直整合之最適策略，並且
納入市場需求以及研發邊際報酬遞減程度，討論其對於上游廠商最適策略之影響。本研究將採用Milliou(2004)以及d’Aspremont and Jacquemin(1988) 之模型設定，假設上游四家廠商下游二家廠商各生產兩種關鍵零組件，其中下游與上游一家關鍵零組件垂直整合，經過本文經濟模型的分析，得到以下結論:

一、上游廠商垂直整合下游廠商所得到的利潤高於水平整合上游廠商所得到的
利潤。因此，上游廠商會較偏好以垂直整合的策略進入市場。
二、隨著市場需求放大，比較上游廠商垂直整合與水平整合所得的利潤
差距，我們發現此利潤差距會擴大。因此，上游廠商會以垂直整合的策略為優先考慮。
三、隨著研發邊際報酬遞減程度越大，比較上游廠商進行垂直整合與水平整
合所得的利潤差距，我們發現此利潤差距會縮小。因此，上游廠商對採用垂直整合的策略誘因變小。
