多明尼克．阿簡多(Dominick Argento, b.1927)為美國當代重要作曲家。《六首伊麗莎白時期歌曲》(Six Elizabethan Songs)是阿簡多1957年在義大利佛羅倫斯時，受到好友委託而創作，並於隔年首演。歌詞選自伊麗莎白時期詩人作品，伊麗莎白一世(Elizabeth I, 1533-1603)為英國都鐸王朝(House of Tudor)最後一個君王，在他統治時期，英國文學與戲劇蓬勃發展，對往後的英國文學及藝術作品影響十分深遠。
本文探討阿簡多生平、音樂風格與創作手法，研究伊麗莎白一世時期社會文化的現象及詩歌，簡介五位詩人生平，對《六首伊麗莎白時期歌曲》之音樂分析及樂曲詮釋等進行研究。

Dominick Argento (b.1927) is a distinguished American composer in 20th century. Argento was commissioned Six Elizabethan Songs by his friend when he went to Florence in 1957 and the cycle was premiered in 1958.The lyrics are selected from the poets of the Elizabethan period. Elizabeth I was the last monarch of the House of Tudor. The reign of Elizabeth I was the golden age of English drama and literature and had influence on English literature and art.
The thesis focus on the biography of Argento ,the style of his art songs, culture and poetry of Elizabeth I, the life of five poets,the music analysis and interpretation of Six Elizabethan Songs.
