本創作論述<我的心靈武裝>意在記錄西方人尋找自我意識1的社會行為，也同時批評我們的消費主義文化是如何在成長過程中影響一個人的自尊心與行為。這個研究是根據我長大成人的過程中，從這現代社會所獲取的個人經驗、感覺與想法。

我的武裝代表了自我保護 —— 一套能讓我以某種自滿心態活下去的盔甲。

我創作了一系列的插畫作品來詮釋我的武裝，並以繪本的方式來敘述我的人生故事與想像。

在我很小的時候，我就發現這個世界並不是那麼友善。在一個凡是以貌取人的社會之中長大，我覺得我需要一種如裝甲般的保護。於是我開始用自然的服裝當作一種防禦的形式，去掩飾我自己。

從前我總是需要用那些好看的衣服，或是一些很酷的、很流行的T恤來讓我的自心增加。這些服裝讓我相信我是夠好的人、也值得穿上它們。從那之後我創造了另一個自我 —— 一個可以讓我隱藏所有缺點的人格。我認為人們總是嘗試著去隱藏自己，並試圖讓自己看起來更堅強、更威猛、成為更好的人。在這不曾停止轉變的環境中，我相信我們都需要武裝自己。

世界上每個人不都是這樣，我們都希望自己被欣賞和喜愛，有些人用整形手術來升級自己的外表，有些人穿著昂貴的衣服讓世界、更主要的讓是社會可以對他們產生良好的印象，進而被大家喜歡。另外一部份的人是靠著他們的自我或驕傲之心，有時顯現出來的是傲慢或專橫的態度，但這一部分的人其實只是害怕展現脆弱的一面，不敢放鬆警惕而在過程中受到傷害。

一開始我打算以戰士在戰爭時期身穿鎧甲而得以保護自己的這個概念為出發點。
我的想法是，生活就像一場永無休止的戰鬥，每一天都必須奮戰到底。於是我開始將鎧甲比喻為一個能承擔這世界生活壓力的護具。

我觀察了一些外表看起來非常堅強、很酷的人。他們可能穿戴耳環、鼻環且滿身刺青，但這樣的人們也往往是內心最脆弱的一群。我們藉由服裝、墨鏡、刺青等等的偽裝來隱藏真實的自己，因為我們害怕別人的評論、也害怕不被接受。

媒體與廣告正在改變人體會自我的方式，也使我們更想受歡迎。因此在這種管道中，我們戴上這些面具使自己更能放心地安置真實的自我。我們都害怕自己真實的靈魂被拆穿，並被他人審視內心。

我們之所以享受穿著不同服裝的其中一個原因在於它能讓我們成為別人，成為一個與眾不同的人，並且使我們對自我認同有所慰藉。我了解到在這層武裝之下，我更感覺我是被接受的，是受人喜愛的。我並不擔心那算不算是真實的我，我只是利用我的武裝去過生活而已。

這就像是在戰場上穿戴盔甲一般，我們可以好好迎戰這常處混亂的世界。我認為所謂的心靈武裝能以任何一種形式存在，例如服裝、珠寶、太陽眼鏡、花紋、生活態度，或是其他能使自我轉變的事物。這世界總是有以貌取人的壓力，而自我武裝正能給予我們一個庇護所。

My armour is a thesis Project which aims to make a commentary on western society’s behavior and examine self-awareness 1, and criticize our consumerist culture that can shape a person’s self esteem and behavior while growing up.

This study is based on my own person and some of my feelings and ideas I had while being brought up and lived in the following countries: El Salvador, United States of America & Taiwan (R.O.C.)

My armour represents my self-protection, my suit that allows me to live with a certain kind of satisfaction.

I portrayed my armour through a series of illustrations that were turned into a storybook and tell my life story in a way, my imagination.

At a very early age I discovered the world isn't such a friendly place, and growing up in a society where the appearance is what matters, I felt I needed some kind of armour and I started using naturally clothing as a form of defense, to disguise myself.
I remember that I had to have the perfect shirt or the cool "on trend" T-shirt to feel better about myself and feel that I was good enough and worth it.
From then on I created a persona, that allow me to hide those parts that I didn’t like much about myself.

I think as people, we are always trying to disguise ourselves, to make us look stronger, more fierce, just better. I believe we need armour in this ever-changing environment we live in.

I take a look at some people I know that seem to be very tough in the outside, wearing all of these studs, and full of tatoos, but most of the time they are some of the most sensitive people of them all.

We hide beneath our clothes, shades, tatoos, etcetera, afraid of people to judge us and not accept us for who we really are.

The media and advertising are changing the way we perceive ourselves and making us want to appear more likable.
So in a sort of way we use this masks that helps us feel more at ease with who we really are. We fear strip down our soul and really looks inside of us.

So one of the reasons we enjoy different clothes is that it makes us feel like somebody else, makes us to be someone different, help us to feel more comfortable with who we are.
I realized that under that armour I could feel more accepted and people could like me, I was not worried If that’s not really who I was, I just used my armour to go out and live life.
So in a way is like thi armour helped go into battle to take on the many times chaotic world we live in.
I feel armour could be anything from clothes, jewelry, sunglasses, patterns, attitude, anything that could transform us.
