Because the high failure rate of software development projects, scholars began to focus on methods to improve project performance. They pointed out that requirements uncertainty and conflict are the important factors affecting project performance. Generally, requirements uncertainty and conflict can negatively affect project performance, but not many software project researchers investigate the effects of task interdependence on project performance. The present study extends previous research in the software development project. In order to understand the requirements instability and how conflict impacts performance, the present study also examined how task interdependence affects project performance. Questionnaire was used in conducting research for the projects, resulting in 241 valid questionnaires for multiple regression data analysis. As a result we found that task interdependence moderate the relationship between task conflict and project performance. When task interdependence is high, task conflict can enhance project performance. Therefore, our results allow managers to provide views and ideas in the course of the project, and allow them to strengthen task interdependence among the project members in order to attain good project performance.
