貝多芬為橫跨古典與浪漫時期的重要作曲家，承襲了古典時期以維也納為中心的音樂形式，並將人生中所遭遇到的困難轉化為獨特的個人音樂語彙，成為了十九世紀浪漫樂派的先驅。本文共分為四章，第一章為貝多芬生平事蹟概述；第二章為奏鳴曲在各個樂派的發展簡述；第三章整理出貝多芬三十二首鋼琴奏鳴曲的分期，說明各時期的創作風格特徵；第四章則為《鋼琴奏鳴曲，作品111》之創作背景、創作特徵與樂曲分析、以及演奏詮釋方面加以討論。

Ludwig van Beethoven is the most important composer between the Classic and Romantic genres. He composed 32 piano sonatas through his whole life, and those compositions are also considered as the masterpieces.
The essay divided to 4 chapters. The first chapter is a brief biography of Beethoven. The second chapter is the development of piano sonatas in different genres. The third chapter is the brief introduction of Beethoven's composition style. The last chapter is the analysis and performance interpretations of the <Piano Sonata, Op. 111>.
