Liquid crystal display(Liquid Crystal Display, LCD) has been developed become mainstream of flat-panel display, the product widely used in image display, with the rapid development of liquid crystal display technology, quality continued improving, emphasizing the "light, thin, short and small", became a consumer demand for electronic products, making the entire industry to achieve, how to give consideration to consumer demand and production, quality, cost also other requirements at the same time, these operating problems become the main problem needs to be faced and solve by Taiwan's panel makers.
TFT-LCD manufacturing process is very time consuming and complex, needs to make TFT and CF substrates individually, then combine together, this process needs to spend three weeks and over 30 process stations, in each process station due to the machine sorption when PDA transferring the substrate used ROLLER can cause the substrate surface defects, and because the etching enlarged of these defects make many dimples with different sizes, must use polishing process to improve the exterior defects problem.
This research aim at manufacturing problem after polishing process, using Six Sigma DMAIC approach process improvement, by definition, measurement, analysis, improvement and control of Six Sigma systematic to identify the real cause impact manufacturing process, and reduce the percentage of exterior defects from 3.86% to under 1.5% after slimming process, In order to reduce financial effect for the company and process time. At the end, use process control systems to ensure optimum process conditions and maintain process stability and performance, also establish a standardized file to make sure the improvements continue to be executed efficiently.
