Summary
Based on theideas of social responsibility, learning contribution, and idea-sharing, thisstudy tries to explore the status and problems of eco-burials in Kaohsiung,raise public awareness of eco-burials, and employ an analysis from the perspectiveof life education to draft feasible strategies for the development andpromotion of a diversity of eco-burials in Kaohsiung.
In thisresearch, a literature analysis, secondary data analysis, in-depth interviewmethod and a Questionnaire are adopted. Also, a pilot research method isapplied to confirm the direction from the beginning. The study has found that mostmortuary service companies and the public in Kaohsiung have very limitedunderstanding about eco-burials. Besides, for MortuaryServices Office Kaohsiung City, its marketing concept about eco-burialpolicies is somewhat conservative as well. Moreover, from the data ofeco-burial proportion, it could be proven that environment and landscapemaintenance of the Life Parks of Kaohsiung would not be quite ideal, so it mayaffect people’s willingness to employ eco-burials.
The findings ofthis study are listed in order to provide some suggestions for MortuaryServices Office Kaohsiung City, as well as a reference for the development and promotionof eco-burial in Kaohsiung.
1. Build a lifeeducational center of eco-burial, strengthen the promotion of a diversity of burialpolicies, and strengthen the establishment of the official website of MortuaryServices Office Kaohsiung City. Besides, connect with the social network andorganize related activities, such as posters and essay competitions abouteco-burial life education.
2. Strengthen thepromotion of a variety of eco-burial strategies, educate citizens to employbeneficial fee-reduction strategy and the joint public memorial ceremony; forinstance, the joint sea burials. Additionally, simple sea burials, tree burialsand other eco-burial methods can be planned.
3. Strengthen themaintenance of the environment and landscape of the Life Park, and make theLife Park become not only a green garden to comfort family members but alsoanother beautiful home for dead people.
