The Thesis focused on the social-psychological characters of Taiwan''sMainlanders in the transitions. Which is based on the observation of massethnic mobilization by mainlanders of this island since the beginning of democratization. In the part of literature review, I mentioned about the theory of ethni-city and nationalism by Benedict Anderson and Anthony Smith. I also picked up the creations of P. J. Conover and Arthur Miller. The research find that the mainlanders of Taiwan have no serious social cleaveges with Taiwanese in the domain of sociological terms, but quite different from other ethnic groups in social- psychological dimension. As known by many Taiwanese scholars, the National identity is the most obvious contradiction between Taiwanese and mainlanders. Mainlanders, even thoughliving in Taiwan for nearly fifty years, still think themself as Chinese instead of Taiwanese. Which affects their perceptions of Taiwan'' s future----accept the fate of unification with China instead of persuit Taiwan to have an independent nationality.
