“Is that true that we only know someone after labeling on each other? When all you care about is how people evaluate yourself, then can you say that you actually understand yourself?”
This is not only the story told in this short film, but also the story of mine.
I started with a young man who had full passion on film production, after experiencing frustration, tangles, and dead-alive. I finally decided to focus on my career and came back for completing the demanded challenges. Except for appreciating the supports and encourages from friends and families around me, so that I could finally thought through what I really want to do rather than vain dreaming and lingering day by day just because of lacking courage, and fear for more setbacks.
“Perhaps, people are usually assimilated unconsciously as the original sin of the amoeba.”
The concept of this story came from the introspection of the director on some social phenomena after finishing his military service and started to work in the real world. At the beginning of project, the story that the producing crews wanted to tell was in the society, people are used to “label” and “classify” others, which means that we often label others with their appearances or wealth, and put tags on them, then decide how to get along with them. More seriously is that we force ourselves to become one of the labels that we know is appreciated by the public, because we are so concerned that how others view us, and would like to accommodate with others expectations in order to get along with each other better. However, through the conducting process of the script, and the re-think during the producing process, we adjusted the direction of the story, transformed the main structure of “labeling” and “classifying” to why people are used to and accept this labeling and classifying behaviors. Is it because of the childhood education, or the influences from social environment? Or it’s like the idea of amoeba mentioned in the short film that it is just the original sin of this creature.
“It is an ordinary love story in the part of a city, with a little bit surprise, sorrow, and helpless, but it is also the ballad that we all seem to have met before.”
The story of this film is about the change of the love relationship between an ordinary and honest young man, A-Wei and his girlfriend, Yun after experiencing difficulties in their lives. How they deal with the bad label pasted on them or would them just run away from it? The unexpected plot presented how people can reconcile to a certain situation just like an amoeba. However, in this real world, will they be living happily ever after just like in the fairy tales?
