我創作音樂之動機始於影像背後的聲音，其聲音涵容三種不同的聲音元素——
敘事、聲音設計與音樂。在動畫中音樂所扮演之角色，除了延伸故事之情緒，有時亦預示之後的劇情發展，而聲音之「寂靜」是一盞聚光燈，使視覺藝術自然流露出無聲的音樂張力。本文【穿織與解扣：從《彼雀》談動畫與音樂之間的互動】講述從接觸動畫音樂之始，而後從自身的歷年作品談音樂的展現，到《彼雀》結合音樂與動畫之過程，亦談及我在書寫音樂時所思考與關心之層面，最後與動畫師合作時所遇到的困難與協調的結果。
