法國作曲家德布西 (Achille-Claude Debussy，1862-1918)，作品《比利提斯之歌》(Les Chansons de Bilitis)，根據其密友法國象徵主義詩人—皮耶・盧易 (Pierre Louÿs) 所創作的同名詩集《比利提斯之歌》來寫作，並以此發展出三個階段性的音樂作品：其一為為人聲及鋼琴所創作的三首《比利提斯之歌》，其二為十二首的場景音樂《比利提斯之歌》，其三則是擷取十二首《比利提斯之歌》其中六首改編譜寫成鋼琴四手聯彈的作品。而筆者此篇論文所使用的版本，則是由長笛家喬治・藍伯特 (Georges Lambert)與豎琴家李鍾華 (Jung Wha Lee)合力所改編的《長笛與豎琴(亦可給鋼琴)之德布西—六首古代墓誌銘》。該版本於1990年由 卡爾・菲舍爾音樂公司 (Carl Fischer Music)出版商所出版。
1897年的德布西，首先寫作了為人聲及鋼琴而作的三首《比利提斯之歌》。在1900年時，德布西再度的為此作品譜寫成十二首的場景音樂同名為《比利提斯之歌》(Les Chansons de Bilitis)，這個版本的《比利提斯之歌》除了音樂還結合了詩詞、舞台演出、朗讀等劇場元素。此曲自1901年首演後便再無任何場合演出，直至1914年，德布西的晚年之期，為紀念在第一次世界大戰身陷戰火的法國，又再度挑選其中的六首曲目改編譜寫成鋼琴四手聯彈作品《六首古代墓誌銘》(Six Epigraphes antiques)，其中包含《牧歌》、《無名氏之墓》、《比利提斯》、《響板女郎》、《獻給埃及女郎》以及《朝雨》共六首。與十二首的《比利提斯之歌》較為不同的是，德布西將《無名墳》與《埃及妓女》各自取材結合並再延伸成為第二首的《無名氏之墓》。
此論文將分成五個章節，從作曲家德布西生平介紹與古詩集創作詩人盧易，進而探討《比利提斯之歌》的樂曲背景，並聚焦研究後人音樂家所改編之版本—《長笛與豎琴(亦可給鋼琴)之德布西—六首古代墓誌銘》的樂曲解析與詮釋，最後作出完整結論。論文將會附上由筆者翻譯之古詩集與中文翻譯對照表，為此研究做出更詳盡的解釋。

"Les Chansons de Bilitis", a work of French composer Achille-Claude Debussy (1862-1918), was based on a poetry collection of the same name, "Les Chansons de Bilitis", written by his close friend, a French symbolist poet named Pierre Louÿs. Debussy then developed the original poetry into three stages of musical works: three songs "Les Chansons de Bilitis" composed for voice and piano; twelve songs "Les Chansons de Bilitis" of stage music, and a piano duet adapted from twelve songs of "Les Chansons de Bilitis". The author here uses a version adapted by flutist Georges Lambert and harpist Jung Wha Lee—“Debussy’s Six Epigraphes antiques for Flute and Harp (Also for Piano)”. This edition was published by Carl Fischer Publishers in 1990.
In 1897, Debussy first wrote three songs "Les Chansons de Bilitis" for voice and piano. In 1900, Debussy then composed twelve songs "Les Chansons de Bilitis" of stage music. In addition to music, this version of "Les Chansons de Bilitis" also combines theatrical elements such as poetry, stage performance, and reading aloud. Since its first performance in 1901, this version was not performed on any other occasions, until late in Debussy’s life, when he was to commemorate the war-torn France in the First World War; Debussy again selected six of the songs and adapted them into piano duets “Six Epigraphes antiques.” The six songs are “Pour invoquer Pan, dieu du vent d’ete”, “Pour un tombeau sans nom”, “Bilitis”, “Pour la danseuse aux crotales”, “Pour l’Egyptienne”, and “Pour remercier la pluie au matin.” The biggest difference from the twelve songs "Les Chansons de Bilitis" was that Debussy combined the materials of "Le tombeau sans nom" and "La prostituée égyptienne", extending them into the second song “Pour un tombeau sans nom”.
This thesis is divided into five chapters: the author first introduces a biography of the composer Debussy and the poet Pierre Louÿs, and explores the musical background of "Les Chansons de Bilitis", then analyzes and interprets a version adapted by later musicians—“Debussy’s Six Epigraphes antiques for Flute and Harp (Also for Piano)”, and finally draws a conclusion. To provide a more detailed explanation, a comparison table between the collection of ancient poems and the Chinese translation is included.
