臺灣金控業自2001年底陸續成立至今已有十一年之久，為了提高競爭力，在短時間內迅速擴展規模，且現今臺灣金融市場面臨競爭激烈的環境，再加上2005年至今受到國內外金融事件的影響，故本研究樣本期間採2005­2011七年之次級資料，以臺灣14家金控公司為研究對象，並以產出導向運用資料包絡分析法、差額變數分析及Malmquist生產力指數進行效率分析，評估金控業經營效率。投入與產出項採用對稱方式，以成本法選取投入項：固定資產、營業費用、薪資合計及員工人數四項；以平衡計分卡觀念選取產出項：營運現金流量、營業收入淨額、稅後淨利及每人營收四項。實證結果顯示：（1）2011年有3家金控公司經營效率最佳：富邦金、開發金及國票金，皆處於最適規模狀態，其餘11家處於規模報酬遞減狀態。（2）運用差額變數分析，瞭解2011年相對無效率之10家金控公司，在未來投入及產出應如何改善。（3）臺灣金控業2005­2011七年Malmquist生產力呈現衰退現象，必需加強技術效率，才能提高經營效率。

In the eleven years since the establishment of the financial holding companies in the late 2001, there has been rapid expansion of the scale in order to strengthen the competitiveness of enterprises. Nowadays taiwan's financial markets face a highly competitive environment. From 2005 to present, the impact of both domestic and foreign financial events was studied. Data from a 7 year period from 2005 to 2011 was collected for 14 financial holding companies. This study utilized data envelopment analysis, slack variable analysis and Malmquist productivity index for efficiency analysis and output-oriented assessment of the operational efficiency of the financial holding companies. Several variables-fixed assets, operating expenses, payroll total, and number of employee-were analyzed using a cost approach to determine their impact on operating cash flow, net operating income, net income and sales per employee. The following results were obtained: (1) In 2011, the three financial holding companies demonstrated the best operating efficiency and optimal scale are the Fubon Financial, China Development Financial Holdings Corp, and Waterland Financial Holdings. The remainder of companies showed decreasing returns to scale. (2) Using slack variable analysis, ten companies lacked the efficiency of typical financial holding companies in 2011. Future opportunities for improvement of these companies are explored. (3) During the 2005-2011 period, financial holding companies in Taiwan demonstrated a decreased Malmquist productivity, which can be improved by addressing their technical efficiency.
